Music Scholarship Consultations

Having led her own students to scholarship offers at more than a dozen top independent schools in London and beyond, Julia’s experience in this area is second to none.

Apart from her extensive knowledge of the application process and the actual standard required by specific schools, Julia’s background as a concert artist performing at the highest level means she knows exactly how to prepare for auditions in a way that is effective without placing undue stress on the child, putting them in the strongest possible position.

After publishing her blog post Winning a music scholarship with everyone's sanity intact - a guide in 2021, Julia started getting frequent requests for consultations from parents keen to learn more about the scholarship process and make sense of what can often be confusing and conflicting information. She is absolutely passionate about equipping parents with no-nonsense advice that is rooted in years of firsthand experience, an exceptional track record of student success and - importantly - doesn’t cost the earth!

Why work with Julia?

  • Among the schools Julia’s students have received music scholarship offers from are: St Paul’s Boys School, St Paul's Girls, Godolphin and Latymer, Wimbledon High School, Channing, Sevenoaks, Francis Holland, Putney High School, Latymer, JAGS, Trinity, Whitgift and Alleyn’s

  • Unlike education consultancies offering similar services, Julia has taken dozens of students from their very first note to becoming music scholars at some of the UK’s top private schools, so she well and truly knows exactly what it takes

  • Preparing for entry exams to independent schools is a hugely stressful time for any child and their parents, so Julia will guide you through the process and answer whatever question you may have in a way that’s kind, personable and plain-speaking. When you are worried about choosing schools and preparing for umpteen exams, you need a solid plan and a cup of tea - not jargon

  • Julia’s position in the London music profession gives her access to a vast network of contacts to some of the best instrumental teachers available

  • Consultations can take place in person or online

What does a consultation entail?

Julia will tailor each consultation to your exact requirements, but the range of services offered includes:

  • A detailed explanation of what being a music scholar entails, the application process, how to prepare for the audition and what happens in the audition itself

  • Going through the list of schools under consideration, their realistic expected standard for the child’s combination of instruments and whether a scholarship application is viable

  • If you are unsure where to apply, Julia will gladly recommend schools with music departments to suit the child’s interests and passions

  • Assessing the child’s current level and drawing up a preparation plan

  • Mock auditions

  • Recommending suitable teachers with extensive experience in the music scholarship process

How much does it cost?
