A recipient of an EMI Music Foundation Award, she has appeared as a concerto soloist with orchestras in the UK and continental Europe, while her recital and chamber music engagements have taken her to venues including Zurich’s Tonhalle, the Purcell Room in London, St David's Hall Cardiff, Prague’s Martinů Hall, the Trieste Opera House and the Tacoma International Music Festival in the United States. An accomplished chamber musician, Julia has collaborated with an exceptional array of internationally renowned artists, including Shlomo Mintz, Roger Vignoles, Roman Simovic, Natalia Lomeiko, Sergey Levitin, Roman Mints, Joan Enric Lluna, Roger Chase and Sasha Grynyuk. Recent engagements have included performances for the Pharos Trust in Cyprus, the Antonín Dvořák Music Festival and Mahler Jihlava Festival in the Czech Republic, and London's Another Music Festival, alongside an extensive schedule of chamber music performances throughout the UK. As a founding member of the acclaimed Erato Piano Trio, Julia performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia, including a major concert tour of China, and recorded for the Toccata Classics label. Her chamber music career has also encompassed international tours with the Fibonacci Sequence and collaborations with a wide range of distinguished artists and ensembles. Since 2022, she has been the cellist of Trio Lalique (with Yuri Kalnits and Ilya Kondratiev), whose performances have been described by critics as “superb” and “sensational”. Julia is also a regular guest with many of Britain's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and London Mozart Players. Her versatility extends to recording for film and television and performances across a broad range of musical genres. Alongside her performing commitments, Julia is co-founder and joint Artistic Director of ChamberMusicBox, a chamber music collective which brings together leading instrumentalists from across Europe. Founded in 2016, the organisation has become a distinctive platform for artistic collaboration and adventurous programming, ranging from intimate chamber music to larger ensemble projects. Its initiatives include the internationally recognised Fermata Festival, which brought together leading performers and visual art created by musicians during the Covid-19 pandemic. A highly respected teacher, Julia works with exceptionally gifted young musicians and is regularly invited to give masterclasses internationally, with recent engagements in Cyprus, Slovenia and Poland. She also shares her expertise with a worldwide audience through her YouTube platform. Julia studied with Raphael Wallfisch, Klaus Heitz and Leonid Gorokhov, completing her studies at the Royal College of Music in London. Her musical development was also profoundly influenced by the Russian cellist Alexander Volpov. She performs on an exceptional 1882 cello by Charles Boullangier.
