Julia Morneweg cellist       Teaching

Besides her career as a performing artist, Julia is rapidly developing a reputation as an outstandingly gifted and highly sought-after teacher and chamber music coach. Her limitless enthusiasm for passing on her knowledge and love of music is reflected in the wide variety of her work in the education and outreach field that ranges from private lessons to larger scale projects in schools and workshops at music colleges.

Private Teaching

Julia has established a thriving private teaching practice in London with pupils of all ages and abilities. She takes a keen interest in finding the right approach for each individual student with particular attention to differences in physiology that may require varying technical approaches. While enjoyment of the music being studied is at the heart of every lesson, Julia places strong emphasis on the development of good technical foundations and has a particular passion for resolving complex technical problems. Her lessons are designed to unlock each student's full potential and help him or her to achieve their personal goal, whether that is to work towards ABRSM examinations, prepare for music scholarship or conservatoire auditions or simply to improve playing skills as an amateur. Julia's exceptional dedication and enthusiasm show in the excellent results her pupils achieve.

Masterclasses, Workshops and Outreach Projects

Julia is keen to combine concerts with educational or outreach projects of some kind as often as possible. Most recently she launched a collaboration between the Erato Piano Trio and the Royal Welsh College of Music in which the Trio worked with composition students by commissioning them to write new works for piano trio and working with them in the process before including selected works in their recital programmes. After the huge success of this pilot project, she is now working on rolling it out across many more music colleges and universities.

Over recent years Julia has led workshops at top schools in the UK and abroad such as St. Paul's School Barnes and Singapore's Tanglin Trust School as well as at the RCM Summer School. Equally active in the state sector, she is currently involved in "Wider Opportunities" whole classroom instrumental teaching at primary level in the London Borough of Hounslow.
"I know she is a very accomplished player but in addition, she really does have the knack of inspiring young people to take an interest."
